WINERY DEVELOPMENT IN THE TEMECULA VALLEY AVA

Patrick served as the original singular employee (Executive Director) of a Temecula start-up company called Temecula Valley Winery Management, a firm designed to provide services to fledgling wineries. To pioneer and execute this relatively new concept in the wine industry, Patrick researched the regulations for alternating proprietorships established by the TTB/ABC.

Once established, his work focused on recruiting contracts. During Patrick’s four-year tenure he assisted new wineries in many, if not all, of the following areas:

  • Understanding their brand story and helping them articulate it in writing

  • Assisting with logo and label design

  • Sourcing bulk wine and contract grapes for initial bottling

  • Designing vineyards and varietals appropriate to the microclimate as well as to the brand concept

  • Writing copy for newsletters and marketing collateral

  • Assisting with and promoting promotional wine tastings designed to jump-start wine club memberships

MT. SAN JACINTO COLLEGE — VITICULTURE AND ENOLOGY CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

While serving as the Executive Director for a Winery Development company in Southern California, Patrick led an advisory committee at the local college in order to help create a certification program that would serve the needs of the local wine industry in the Temecula Valley AVA.

The college’s existing program focused solely on farming, and pesticide licensing and management. Patrick designed a more comprehensive program that featured Business Management, Marketing, Farming, and Wine Making. Today it is called the Wine Industry and Hospitality Program.

2005 Best Catered Event of the Year — CIsco Systems Global Partner Summit

While managing Major the Gourmet catering in Vancouver, British Columbia, a team of California event planners representing Cisco Systems interviewed several of the top caterers. Our company created a comprehensive plan for a 2,400-person gala at the 40k square foot cruise ship terminal, Canada Place.

After several months of anticipation the event was awarded to our company. We weren’t the least expensive bid, but we offered the most focused and clearly articulated response.

Later, the event was awarded Best Catered Even of the Year by Catersource Magazine. Competing for this prestigious award in the international market is akin to vying for an Academy Award in the film industry.
